During shipment leaves may dry on tree. Just remove the leaves and new ones emerge.

This Tree Can withstand winter temperatures as low as −44 °F.

Full or Partial Shade ( 6 hours of sunlight at least )
Plant in rich loam, clays and dry, sandy soils.
Soil type does affect the tree growth.
It does well in acidic or alkaline soil.
Alkaline 8.0 pH and acidic 5.1 pH soils
Do Not plant in non draining area or near fruit trees !
Keep the Tree moist when first planted and a few months later water once a week.
Grows : 100 - 125 feet
If you plant in dry soil in will reach about 60 Ft. Tall.
It spreads out 70 feet or more.
It grows about 3 ft. each year.
It will branch like a umbrella with wide spreading limbs.
American Elm bark is grayish-brown, with deep diamond-shaped fissures, and broad ridges.
The leaves are ovate in shape and are 3” to 5” long and up to 3” wide.
The trunk can be 3.5′-4′ in diameter.
The bark of an elm is rough and coarse, with intersecting ridges.
Elm wood is good for woodworking !
This Elm is also a food source for many bird species eating the seeds and buds.
This tree is making a come back after the Dutch elm disease from the 1930's.
